The North Country Consortium’s Sustainability Plan is moving toward completion, and the public is invited to learn about it at The Wild Center in Tupper Lake, NY, on Wednesday, January 23 at 1:30 pm-3:30 pm. Go here for directions and more information.
The North Country Consortium — consisting of Clinton, Franklin, Essex, Hamilton, St. Lawrence, Jefferson and Lewis counties — and project consultants Adirondack North Country Association and Ecology & Environment are in the process of finalizing a draft of the document based on the collaborative involvement of hundreds of people across the region, a press release said.
The session will include discussion of:
• The results of the regional Greenhouse Gas Inventory, including how the North Country compares to the rest of the state and the country.
• What kinds of clean energy and other sustainable projects are going on, along with opportunities for funding going forward.
• How the plan is intended to benefit communities, businesses and municipalities. (Press Republican)
Participants will have the opportunity to offer input on the draft and ask questions. Hot beverages and a light snack will be provided.
The meeting is free, but those planning to attend are asked to RSVP at the campaign’s website or call 891-6200.
Planet Adirondack Demo

Prior to the meeting, the museum will be giving a free demo of its new, interactive Planet Adirondack experience at 1:00 p.m.
“The exhibit demonstrates how region is affected by changes in global storm patterns, ocean currents, greenhouse-gas emissions and other climate-change factors.” (Press Republican)
Live Webcast
If you cannot attend, then you’re in luck because the meeting will be available to watch via live webcast, and it will also be archived for later viewing as well. Comments and questions can be sent during the webcast to jperry@adirondack.org.
