Champlain Area Trails thanks a wonderful group of hard-working, dedicated volunteers from the American Hiking Society (AHS) who joined us for a week of trail work. The 15 volunteers from around the country donated their valuable vacation time to build bridges at the Hathaway Park Trail and construct over 200 feet of board walks on Sophie’s Lair Trail in Willsboro. THANK YOU volunteers! And thank you, Camp Dudley, for providing them with food and lodging while they were here.
You Can Volunteer!
Next Saturday, October 22, you too can be a CATS Volunteer! Just come out and join Bill Amadon and others at the 3rdSaturday of the Month Volunteer Trail Project at 9:00 a.m. to build two bridges on Sophie’s Lair Trail in Willsboro. Owl Prowl
Mark your calendars for this year’s first OWL PROWL on Friday, October 21 at 6:00 PM at the Black Kettle Trail in Essex. Naturalist and teacher, Gregg VanDeusen, will lead this popular early-evening hike while talking to children and families about the various species of owls in the area and making owl calls to elicit their responses. Gregg also discusses other types of wildlife in the area and explains how our eyes work in the dark. Click here to sign up for this popular workshop. Space is limited, so sign up today!
