In 2017, I am starting Red Legs Flowers—a flower farm in Essex. I came to the Essex area two and a half years ago, from Philadelphia. There, I had been working at Chanticleer, a public garden at the forefront of garden design and creativity, but was persuaded to move to Essex to take over the vegetable production at Essex Farm. Now, after two seasons of learning how to farm vegetables organically and with horses, I am combining these two passions to start a flower farm—still using organic, sustainable techniques like cover cropping, inter-cropping, and using horses for tillage and cultivation.

I will be growing and operating at Reber Rock Farm, on Jersey Street in Essex. I am most excited to be offering a flower CSA: for ten weeks over the summer, members will come to the farm to pick up one large bouquet reflecting anything and everything that is looking good that week. Therefore the bouquets will be diverse—reflecting the different stages of the garden as the season goes on, and members will develop a connection to me and to the farm as they visit each week.
I am also looking for a few clients who would be excited to have a more personalized floral service provided to them for the season. These would be home deliveries of all different types and sizes of arrangements and live plants, designed specifically for their home.
Red Legs Flowers will also be available to provide flowers for events, and specially ordered arrangements for gifts. Look for bouquets in the Reber Rock Farm store all summer long, as well as at the farm stand at Dogwood Bakery.

Hi Kristin, I’m coming to Essex on August 2 and would like to purchase flowers to create some arrangements for a memorial service reception in August 10. A few medium to large arrangements for a buffet and maybe some small table arrangements. My phone is 415-601-4563. Let me know if this could work. Thanks, Samantha Sanderson
