More than one thousand North Country students will participate in robotics workshops, interactive discussions with medical personnel, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) empowerment sessions with the head of the GE Foundation.
CFES Brilliant Pathways has organized events across the region for Adirondack STEM Week that runs from February 12 to 16, with educators in a dozen schools also organizing their own STEM education activities.
Highlights of the week include a girls’ empowerment workshop led by Kelli Wells of the GE Foundation for 70 high school girls and two robotics workshops for 80 middle school students led by faculty and cadets from the United States Military Academy at West Point. These hands-on, in-depth STEM experiences will encourage students to pursue STEM career pathways.
“There will be 10 million new, high paying STEM-related jobs over the next five years,” said CFES President & CEO Rick Dalton. “We want to make sure that our students are prepared for these opportunities.”
