A few weeks ago we asked for your help to reach $20,000 in donations so we would receive a $20,000 matching grant from the Cloudsplitter Foundation. Thanks to YOU, we reached that goal!

Complete the purchase of the Wildway Passage Project
Protect 48 acres on the western shore of Long Pond in Willsboro
Increase outdoor education
Make NEW trails / maintain existing trails

Crowfoot Pond Hike

Crowfoot Pond Hike to celebrate the new bridge allowing people to get onto the trail – Sunday, November 20 from 12:00 to 3:00 PM — Invite your friends and neighbors to make the 5-mile easy round-trip hike to the pond. Meet at the trailhead. It is on Tracy Road, about 6 miles west of Witherbee. Coming from the other direction, it is 1.6 miles east of NYS Route 9 and Exit 30 of the Northway. Crowfoot Pond Trail is #44 on the 2016-2017 Trail Map. There is no charge for the hike, but please call (518-962-2287 or email us (info@champlainareatrails.com) to let us know you plan to attend.

Sophie’s Lair Trail is COMPLETED. CATS Stewardship Coordinator Bill Amadon reports the bridges and boardwalks are done and all the trails are marked and open. Check it out!

About Champlain Area Trails (CATS)

Champlain Area Trails (CATS) is a non-profit organization, begun in 2009, which creates and maintains hiking and cross-country ski trails in the Champlain Valley that link communities, connect people with nature, and promote economic vitality. In its short history, CATS has developed 35 miles of trails that when added to existing trails, gets it half-way toward the long-envisioned goal of a 30-mile trail loop between Westport and Essex. CATS will extend its trails to neighboring towns and eventually connect them to trails in the Adirondack Mountains, Vermont, and Quebec. Learn more on the CATS website.
