The Boobie Sisters are living proof that laughter is the best medicine. These performers sing funny songs to battle serious issues. (BorderlessNorth)
Twelve performers from Plattsburgh, NY, make up the Boobie Sisters singing group. They are all breast cancer survivors, and they have come together to share their strength and teach about breast cancer through music. Their songs are humorous. Many of their audiences contain current cancer patients, and it helps to see that there is a life after cancer. There is hope, and there is fun.
“Life is more important than vanity,” as one of the Boobie Sisters says. This is true for the patients who seek treatment, but also for the Boobie Sisters who share personal details and make fun of themselves through song to connect with audiences and spread awareness.
Laughter and good humor is an important tool for someone with cancer. When the patient is enjoying him or herself then it can help fight depression, and be a help overall with accepting bad news and fighting through treatments. The Boobie Sisters provide not just entertainment but inspiration!
