It’s summer so the grass is growing—that means opportunities to help on the trails!
Beginning this Thursday, June 19, CATS summer intern, Charlotte Staats will lead “Thursdays on the Trail with Charlotte” projects throughout the summer. Each Thursday will be different—it could be a work project, a hike, scouting for the right trail route, or more.
This Thursday, you can meet Charlotte at the Dogwood Bread Company in Wadhams at 9:00 AM, have a scone or muffin, and then prepare the Field & Forest East Trail for summer use. This trail will take hikers from the Bobcat Trail toward Whallonsburg. We’ll have all the tools you need (you can still bring your own). If you can’t make it in the morning, you can meet up with Charlotte in the afternoon. She will be working on the trail most of the day and you are welcome to help for as long as you can.
Directions to Field and Forest East Trail – Go to Bobcat Trail’s south trailhead (from Wadhams, go about 2 miles north on Route 22 to Ferris Lane. Turn left and go to the end.) Take Bobcat trail through the field to the woods. Continue straight on Bobcat trail for about 300 yards to where Field and Forest East goes to the right. It will be marked with pink flagging.

Third Saturday of the Month Project
The Third Saturday of the Month project will be this Saturday, June 21. After enjoying chocolate chip walnut pumpkin muffins, we will clear the final section of the Florence Hathaway Park Nature Trail in Willsboro. Meet at 8:30 AM by the tennis courts at the park (3.2 miles north of Essex and 1.3 miles south of the bridge over the Boquet River in Willsboro). We will be done around 1:00 PM. We’ll have all the tools you need and you are welcome to bring your own.
I look forward to seeing you at one or both of these projects.
