Recently there was a story about tree frogs. (See “Ben Collins and the Tree Frog” by Tom Mangano on September 5, 2015) I finally found my photos of tree frogs, both kinds, for the many people have never seen any.
In general, both are the same species, Hyla versicolor. The smaller, green frog has not yet achieved full adulthood. Green is also more often seen during the breeding season.
The gray frog was photographed on the porch railing of Sarah Disney’s house on Elm Street in Essex. The green frog was photographed on plants in the yard of Cathy DeWolff’s house on Rte 22 in Essex.
