Every Monday we share an image on the Essex on Lake Champlain Facebook page and invite our viewers to play some Vintage Essex Trivia.
This is a unique artifact! Looks like an image on an envelope…see the lines of the seam along the top? What do you think of it? Have you ever seen something like it before? Along the bottom we can see the words: “Made by Curt Teich & Co., Chicago USA” which tells us who created this.
Do you recognize the ferry featured in the central image — it has the name Vermont on its side — anything you can tell us about it? That smoke stack shows that it is a steam ferry. Do you know if it operated in/around Essex? When do you think this dates to?
