Every week we share a different image on the Essex on Lake Champlain Facebook page and invite our viewers to play some Vintage Essex Trivia.
When do you think this photo was taken? Where is it? What do you recognize? Have any stories to share? Notice anything that has changed compared to today?
Here’s what the community had to say:
Theresa Borden: Steve Mckenna’s house in Essex. Across from the old dock. South side.
The location is exactly right: it’s on the road that circles by Beggs Park and this is the side of the circle facing the Old Dock Restaurant.
The sign “Cabins by the Lake” and the portion of a sign saying “Gas” imply some of the amenities that used to be in that location. Can anyone tell us more about who was running those businesses there and what’s happened to them over the years? When do you think this photo dates to?
We have shared a couple other vintage images of this location from different perspectives (and likely slightly different dates). See below and click to learn more about what was said and learned about each photo!
