Last time we shared the image above, which features a sketch of a home on the lake.
This old postcard has some text on the front: “Bonnie Tryst” and “Essex, NY.” I assumed that may have been the name of the artist – but a comment from the community cleared that up!
Dianne B. Lansing: Bonnie Tryst was owned by the Brooks family for many years. It is the first camp on the lake south of South Farm.
That’s actually the name of the house!
You can take a look at the backside of the postcard below, however, it was never sent so there is no postage date on it or any other text to help narrow down the date of the postcard.

My paternal grandparents built Bonnie Tryst in the late 1920’s. It left our family ownership in the 1980’s. The name means “fair meeting”. 4 bedrooms 2 bathrooms. The center of the house is a 2 story living room from the front door vestibule all the way to the porch. Had central heating and insulation via a coal furnace in the basement. A year-round house. And a finished office underneath the porch overlooking the lake accessible via an exterior bulkhead door. Stairs on the northside accessing the lovely shale beach. Just north of the front yard is a steep service drive down to the beach.
