Every Monday we share an image on the Essex on Lake Champlain Facebook page and invite our viewers to play some Vintage Essex Trivia.
Check out this old postcard that we shared last week — do you recognize the landscape? Point out any landmarks? When do you think this photo was taken? If you don’t recognize it, then take a look at the caption along the bottom that reads: “Lake Champlain Near Essex – Cannon Point in Distance.”
See the back of postcard below there are some things of interest. Click on the image if you’d like to enlarge to see details better.
In the upper right corner, you can see that the postcard is stamped with the date 1923 and the top of the stamped circle says “Crater Club” telling us that this was sent from the old Post Office at the Crater Club in Essex, NY.
