Every week we share a different image on the Essex on Lake Champlain Facebook page and invite our viewers to play some Vintage Essex Trivia.
We featured the vintage postcard featuring a summer scene on Lake Champlain without its text and invited viewers to identify the location! We hinted that it wasn’t in Essex, but do you know where is this? Do you recognize anything? When do you think this dates to?
Here’s what the community already had to say and they got it right:
Juliann Sherman: WESTPORT!
Rick Bunning: Definitely Westport, Northwest Bay, looking south from what is now the Westport Marina at what (was when I was growing up there) is the Yaght club.
Dianne Lansing: I think it’s the Westport Inn Beach looking south with the Yacht Club in the distance.
John R. Napper: I think it the house on the pier from now what is the boat launch
Below is the backside of the postcard—there is no date, but if you’re interested in the message (which is talking about the beach) click on the image to enlarge!

George Davis confirms that the view takes in the Westport Yacht Club in the distance, and the beach (now part of Ballard Park) in the foreground starts just south of the Westport Marina.
