This is certainly an image, in words and doodle, that capture part of Essex’s enchanting environment and the feeling it inspires for many of us.

Minimalism in Victrola’s Water

Much of the appeal of this doodle resides in its simplicity. The minimalist, unselfconscious sketch of a tree covered shoreline and open water transports the viewer effortlessly. And the words playfully intersecting, suggest a playful game, a quick, almost absent minded stream of conscious exploration of what comes to mind in Essex, a town at the border of the Adirondacks and Lake Champlain. Beauty. Freedom.
