I’m away on some much needed vacation for the week, and have done my best to stay ignorant on happenings on the farm and in the outside world. Things trickle in of course (it’s too hard to turn my back completely). On Monday we welcomed in a new little bull calf out of our Jersey Winter, James claims he is quite a debonair little guy and suggested the name Winston would be fitting. Other than a broken blood vessel in his eye during the birth, it sounds like both mom and babe are doing well. We also welcomed in 2 inches of rain over the weekend, providing more relief to the struggling pastures, hay fields and vegetables and a very welcome break from irrigating. James, Emily, Tyler and our friend Gavin harvested the next batch of chickens yesterday. There will be fresh chicken in the share at pick-up.
Special thanks to everyone covering for me this week, especially Emily and Tyler who held down the fort while James joined me for a long weekend.
Pick-up as usual tonight between 4 and 6,
Sara Kurak
