Winter Workshops at Essex Church Begin with Inlay & Marquetry

INLAY & MARQUETRY: Painting with Wood
3 Saturday mornings, 9 am to Noon
January 28, February 4, February 11

Essex Community Church has long been known for its popular summer and winter concert series. Now the church is offering something completely different: beginning Saturday, January 28, ECC will launch a series of workshops on art, contemporary social issues, and literature, among others.

INLAY & MARQUETRY: Painting with Wood — The first workshop, INLAY & MARQUETRY: Painting with Wood will have its first session on Saturday, January 28.

In the first workshop, INLAY & MARQUETRY: Painting with Wood, master woodworker Nicholas Rumsey will guide participants (ages 14 to adult, all skill levels) in creating an inlaid design on a small wooden box using hand tools only; all materials will be provided.

This workshop will include 3 Saturday morning sessions, January 28, February 4, and February 11, from 9 am to noon each day.

Suggested donation for the 3 workshops is $25.

About Essex Community Church

The Essex Community Church was built in 1853 as a Presbyterian church. It later became a Federated church and since 1990 is affiliated with the United Methodist church. It is located at the corner of Main Street and Route 22 in Essex, NY and is listed on the National Historic Register. Services take place every Sunday at 10:15AM. There is an active Sunday School. The Church hosts a well-regarded summer concert series. Contact the church at 518.963.7766.
