Dear AAA Members,
As our season winds to a close, I want to bring you up to invite you to attend our Annual Meeting at 5:00 pm on Sept. 5th at The Gallery on Main Street in Essex. All members attending the meeting will receive a token to be redeemed at our final Opening which begins at 6pm the same day. Hope to see many of you at the final opening, the show will feature J Hill Ainsworth, an artist new to most of you, but who has had a wonderful career and has shown worldwide. A redeemed token will give you a treat from Russ Bailey’s giant griddle, which will be sizzling away just outside The Gallery.
Also sizzling have been our sales this summer. Final numbers are not complete, but we are approximately $10,000 ahead of this date last year. And this does not include membership dollars or contributions. Great news, as our expenses have also increased from last year. In addition, our very first Capital Fund Silent Auction netted $3,000. Only $347,000 to go!
Plans to purchase our building continue to evolve. We are in the process of applying for tax exempt status, and intend to launch a capital fund drive early next season with a kick-off gathering to be announced. As most of you know we hold a four-year land contract on the building, so our time to secure funding for purchase is limited and shrinking.
More details will be available at our meeting on the 5th.
Should any of you have comments, suggestions, or general kvetches, I can be reached at mcmoredock@gmail.com or leave a note at The Gallery.
