Lake Champlain Yoga & Wellness will be hosting the True North Advanced Yoga Studies/Yoga Teacher Training program from October 2015 to March 2016. The six-month program, created and led by Debbie Philp, founder of True North Yoga in Schroon Lake, was designed for North Country yoga students interested in a deep immersion into the practice. Participants will spend ten weekends at Lake Champlain Yoga & Wellness, learning how to properly align more than one hundred poses as well as meditation techniques, breathing exercises, basic anatomy, yoga philosophy, and how to sequence a yoga practice. Between sessions, the students work on their personal practice and the home study portion of the program, which includes reading and written assignments.
After two years of teaching yoga classes in Schroon Lake, Debbie saw a real need to have more yoga teachers in the region and is pleased that many former graduates have gone on to teach yoga, safely and effectively, at various places throughout the Adirondacks and Champlain Valley.
“There were so many communities that did not have access to yoga, meditation or other wellness practices,” she said. “Yoga classes provide an opportunity to develop strength and flexibility in a non-competitive environment while also giving participants tools, such as breath exercises and mindfulness practices, to reduce stress and anxiety in their daily lives. I developed the Advanced Yoga Studies program with the hope that yoga would spread, and I’m delighted that it has.”
The YTT program has a few more spaces. If you are interested please sign up soon! For more information go to: http://debbiephilp.com/yoga-teacher-training/.
