The summer edition of the NYS Quitline’s statewide newsletter highlighted the work of The Heart Network’s tobacco project coordinator, Brielle Carnright.
Quitters Always Win! is a periodical newsletter that features the human stories behind tobacco cessation work statewide, from people who quit smoking to local partners who go above and beyond to support the work of the Quitline. The summer edition’s “Partner Power” story featured Carnright, who has worked with The Heart Network’s tobacco cessation program since 2023.
“Brielle’s commitment to helping people quit smoking has made a big difference in our communities,” said Dan Sweet, The Heart Network’s associate director. “Her work to connect North Country residents with local and statewide tobacco cessation resources is nothing short of inspiring. In addition to helping smokers themselves, Brielle has also been a great ambassador for our work, whether it’s teaming with partners like Glens Falls Hospital to work directly with healthcare providers or mobilizing nonprofits and public health agencies to host conferences and symposiums. Our organization is lucky to have her.”
Carnright’s background is in community and public health. Her past work includes the Alliance for Positive Health in Plattsburgh, where she managed syringe exchanges and led Narcan trainings. As The Heart Network’s tobacco project coordinator, Carnright provides free resources and materials to medical and behavioral healthcare professionals, reviews treatment policies to ensure evidence-based treatments and workflows, conducts customized trainings, and facilitates patient referrals to the NYS Quitline.

North Country Nicotine Consultants (NCNC), a collaboration of The Heart Network and Glens Falls Hospital, promotes evidence-based resources to medical and behavioral healthcare providers. NCNC encourages proactive dialogue between providers and patients, as this can increase a person’s chances of quitting successfully by up to 30 percent.
