Winter Wellness Workshops at LCY&W!
-Balance: The Basics with Michael Fergot
Sunday, February 24 – 2-4 pm

As we age, preventing falls becomes a challenge and balancing becomes the focus. When we walk, hike or run each movement is a subtle balance. In yoga, balance is cultivated with each posture and from posture to posture. In this workshop join Michael, step by step, as you explore together how to improve your balance through movement. Regardless of your ability, you will learn what it takes to stay balanced in your stride to prevent falls and to become stronger over all. This new strength will create freedom and ease in your movement. Even if you “don’t do yoga”, this workshop can help you improve your balance!

Within the twists and turns of your DNA, all life is expressing itself through movement. Just as your twisting DNA needs to move, so does your spine! If you do not twist, turn, or move your spine the muscles around the spine can become stiff and you may experience decreased range of motion, back pain or discomfort. In this 2 hour Wellness Workshop with Michael Fergot, 500HRYT, learn the many facets of spinal rotation and how the spine moves from head to hips. Then explore and practice a variety of Yoga twists to improve spine range of motion – from seated to standing – seated twists can be soothing to your muscles and organs while standing twists create leg strength, balance and stamina. Benefits of all twists include improved digestion, stimulated circulation, spine mobility, reduced low back pain, soreness while also calming the mind. Come away feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. All levels are welcome.
